Trade Machine Fun: LeBron, Bosh, Wade All On Suns? It’s Possible
November 29th, 2009 | by jneveau |Last basketball season when I first discovered the joys of the NBA Trade Machine on ESPN.com. It is a beautiful piece of software, taking into account all variables when it comes to making a trade. Whether it is the salary cap, the luxury tax, or Poison Pill Provisions, the Trade Machine will do it all for you.
Just for kicks and giggles, we decided that today would be a good day to makeover the Phoenix Suns into whatever image we wanted. Whether into a defensive shut-down squad, or into an all-rookie team loaded with immense talent, here are some trades that the Suns could do within NBA rules (but certainly not within common sense terms).

Rajon Rondo (photo property of Wikipedia)
Trade Number One: Rectifying Old Wrongs
This trade is designed to make up for three trades that the Suns engaged in with the Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers, and Atlanta Hawks. Three of the players coming back to the Suns were traded away by the team over the course of the years, and this will re-unite them all.
Suns Get: Joe Johnson, Rudy Fernandez, Rajon Rondo, Jarrod Bayless
Hawks Get: Jason Richardson, Travis Outlaw
Blazers Get: Jared Dudley, Leandro Barbosa
Celtics Get: Goran Dragic
Johnson, Fernandez, and Rondo were all traded by the Suns at various times, and with the success each has had in the NBA, it’s safe to say that things would have turned out differently for our beloved Phoenix team.
Trade Number Two: Family Reunion
The Lopez twins starred together in college…..why shouldn’t they in the pros?
Suns Get: Brook Lopez
Nets Get: Earl Clark
Obviously, the Suns get the better end of this deal, and they get a center that they can use with more frequency and effectiveness than Robin Lopez. Imagine a front court with Lopez and Stoudemire. Wow.

Derrick Rose
Trade Number Three: Three Guard System
Some colleges use a three guard system in order to maximize offensive power. With this trade, the Suns would engage in a three guard system, and would likely run Amare Stoudemire and Robin Lopez on the front line.
Suns Get: Derrick Rose, Ray Allen
Celtics Get: Jason Richardson, Jared Dudley, James Johnson
Bulls Get: Leandro Barbosa, Bill Walker
Rose would make a great counterpoint to Steve Nash, who could develop a more 3-point heavy approach, and Rose would feed him the ball. Allen would also give Rose an option to throw passes to on the wing. This team would throw the ball up anytime they crossed half court, and they would sure be fun to watch.
Trade Number Four: The All-Stud Squad
Is it possible to get Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh onto the Phoenix Suns? Let’s find out:
Suns Get: Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh
Cavaliers Get: Steve Nash
Raptors Get: Amare Stoudemire
Heat Get: Jason Richardson

Amare Stoudemire
Granted, the team’s starting five would be Robin Lopez, Chris Bosh, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and probably Leandro Barbosa, but who in their right mind would not watch this team? According to Hollinger’s rankings of trades on the Trade Machine, the Suns’ win expectancy would go up a whopping 31 wins if they pulled off this trade. That’s quite a few victories.
Trade Number Five: The Young Guns
Suns Get: Kevin Durant, James Harden, Nenad Kristic, Stephen Curry, Brandon Jennings
Thunder Get: Jason Richardson
Warriors Get: Earl Clark
Bucks Get: Jared Dudley, Alando Tucker
The starting five on this squad would be one to die for, with Jennings, Nash, and Harden likely forming a three man backcourt, and Stoudemire and Durant starting in the front court.
Granted, this team would not have a ton of post up ability, but the ball would never hit the floor between these five guys. How sick would it be for Nash to pass the ball to Jennings and Durant on fast breaks? Wow, I’m getting the shakes just thinking about it.
